TNP help Shetland Islands Council design and build an award winning network17/06/2015

Shetland Islands Council have been awarded the prestigious Connect Project Delivery Award for the implementation of their hybrid wide-area network deployed within tight timescales during periods of some of the worst storms experienced in over 20 years, and delivering anticipated savings of up to £1.6 million.

TNP designed and built this network on behalf of the council allowing them to realise this project delivery and achieve cost savings. In addition, TNP’s consultancy-led delivery model means that the Council now owns the asset of their network allowing them to break free of the usual churn of 3-5 year managed service contracts, giving them additional flexibility and freedom.

TNP have further developed the Council’s network for them over the last 12 months, most recently resulting in the unbundling of Lerwick exchange by TNP on behalf of the Council. One of the most northerly BT exchanges will now form part of the Council’s core network, giving them access to superfast broadband and fibre services directly into their corporate network.
